Winter, Wisconsin
Winter, Wisconsin, is located in southern Sawyer County, in northwestern Wisconsin in the United States. The Village of Winter is a community of 324 people and is home to the Winter School District and Project Northwoods Nature Center, the two hosts of the Snake Ecology Group VII conference. The Village of Winter is also home to the Winter Cooperative grocery and hardware store, a Family Dollar/Dollar Tree, the Northern Lights Motel, Chippewa Valley Bank, the Sawyer County Gazette and the Winter Public Library. Restaurants and bars including Patti's on 70, the Lakewood Café, Bottoms Up and The Bling Pig. Other services include Northwoods Paws-n-Claws Pet Grooming, three hair salons (Bonnie's Style Center, Sandy's Hair Affair and Top Designs Hair and Tanning Salon), Northwoods Insurance and Lein Law Offices.
Winter is surrounded by beautiful lakes and is just south of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, which includes 1.5 million acres of Northwoods forest. Visitors to the area enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, ATV/UTV rides and snowmobiling.
